Bay Area natives, Anja and Katrin often drove past San Quentin Prison as kids. They’d look out the car window and wonder – not what it’s like to live in the prison, but next door to the prison. To grow up playing in the bright, lively, Americana neighborhoods built in the shadows of such darkness, especially a facility that imprisoned notorious monsters like Charles Manson and the Night Stalker, and once acted as the state’s death row.

We also came of age watching all the ’70s and ’80s classics – Jaws, The Goonies, E.T., Stand By Me – and more recently with our own kids, Super 8, The Adam Project and Stranger Things

We set out to write a love letter to the formative stories that shaped our youth. With this nostalgic spirit, The Piglets was born.

Like our favorite stories, The Piglets is a high-stakes adventure with humor and heart, where scrappy teens confront extraordinary threats while navigating personal loss, fractured families and rite-of-passage trials.
